A new fentanyl lozenge will be out soon for cancer patients
A new fentanyl lozenge will be out soon for cancer patients. It's called Actiq...and will be promoted by Anesta and Abbott.
Actiq is for "breakthrough" pain in cancer patients who are already on chronic opioids. Breakthrough pain is hard to treat because of its sudden onset and severity.
Actiq works fast...some of the drug is absorbed in the mouth. It starts working within 15 minutes and lasts for several hours.
