warning about reports of acute renal failure with Immune Globulin Intravenous (IVIG) products
The FDA is now warning about reports of acute renal failure with Immune Globulin Intravenous (IVIG) products.
The risk appears to be highest with products that contain sucrose...Sandoglobulin, Panglobulin, and Gammar-P IV. These solutions can cause kidney damage due to their higher osmotic load.
Patients at increased risk are primarily those with pre-existing renal dysfunction...diabetes...and over 65.
