Five different classes of drugs are now available for glaucoma. Eye drop bottles are usually color-coded to indicate which class they belong to.

Beta-blockers (yellow or blue top) include timolol (Timoptic), levobunolol (Betagan), and betaxolol (Betoptic).

These drugs are often used for initial therapy because they work well and have few ocular side effects.
