Zithromax (azithromycin) is popular because it's convenient to use and well-tolerated.
But Augmentin (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) seems to be more effective for otitis media...probably because it's more active against drug-resistant Strep pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.
