Some patients will be getting Baraclude (entecavir), a new oral antiviral for chronic hepatitis B.

It will be used as an alternative to Intron A (interferon alfa-2b)...Epivir-HBV (lamivudine)... or Hepsera (adefovir).

Intron A is effective for suppressing the hepatitis B virus and requires a shorter treatment duration than the oral antivirals.
