changes to Pradaxa (dabigatran) capsules

You'll see changes to Pradaxa (dabigatran) capsules.

Pradaxa 75 mg caps are getting a face-lift to avoid mix-ups. This isn't surprising...both Pradaxa 75 mg and 150 mg caps have a blue top and a white base. Until now, the way to tell them apart is that the 75 mg caps are stamped with "R75" and the 150 mg caps are stamped with "R150."

Accidentally dispensing Pradaxa 150 mg instead of Pradaxa 75 mg could cause serious bleeding problems in patients with bad kidneys. Or dispensing Pradaxa 75 mg instead of Pradaxa 150 mg could lead to the patient having a stroke since the blood may not be thinned enough.
