Don't Automatically Override Drug Interaction Alerts With Jardiance

You'll soon see the new "flozin" Jardiance (jar-DEE-ans, empagliflozin) for treating type 2 diabetes.

Think of it as similar to Invokana (canagliflozin) and Farxiga (dapagliflozin). These lower blood glucose by sending excess sugar through the kidneys and into the urine...instead of being reabsorbed.

Expect Jardiance to be saved as a second- or third-line option after metformin. It may cause genital yeast and urinary tract infections...and can slightly raise cholesterol.
