Alert Your Pharmacist to Pregnant Women Getting Fluconazole
New warnings will raise concerns about a possible increased risk of miscarriage with ONE dose of oral fluconazole (Diflucan, etc).
Vaginal "azole" antifungals (clotrimazole, etc) are usually used first for vaginal yeast infections, or candidiasis, in pregnancy.
An Rx for single-dose oral fluconazole is sometimes used instead because it's more convenient than using a vaginal product for a week.
