It's often a surprise that antibiotics can cause central nervous system (CNS) side effects.
About 3% of patients on "quinolones" (ciprofloxacin, etc) have CNS effects such as insomnia, confusion, or hallucinations.
Penicillins and cephalosporins are linked to seizures...and clarithromycin might lead to psychosis in some patients.
