Ortho-McNeil is now marketing Topamax (topiramate) for treating partial onset seizures in adults.
These seizures are common. They begin in a small area of the brain...causing involuntary movements or sensations.
They're usually treated with carbamazepine or phenytoin. Topamax is for add-on therapy...for seizures that aren't controlled.
