The FDA just approved Zyvox (linezolid), a potent new antibiotic for certain resistant gram-positive infections.
Zyvox is the first in a new class...oxazolidinones. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
It will be used for certain gram-positive infections...including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE).
