Aloxi (palonosetron) is the newest drug for preventing chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting.
Aloxi is a 5-HT3 antagonist...similar to Zofran (ondansetron), Anzemet (dolasetron), and Kytril (granisetron).
But Aloxi has a much longer half-life...about 40 hours... compared to less than 8 hours for the others.
