Rifampin plus pyrazinamide is no longer recommended for treating latent tuberculosis...due to concerns about hepatotoxicity.
This combination was added to the TB recommendations in 2000.
The big advantage is that it's given for only 2 to 3 months...compared to 4 to 9 months for the other drug regimens.
